What’s it all about?
Singing in a choir is not only about singing, it’s about travel, comradeship, education, magic moments, the tingle factor, fame, achievement, disappointment, charity work and a whole lot more.

The choir has sung in France, Germany, Malta, Czech Republic, Austria, Scotland and all over England and Wales. In 2006 and 7 they will sing in Brittany at their Interceltic Festivals in front of 50,000 people. There is no thrill like it.

And there is nothing like the bond that springs up among choristers. You are proud of your section and proud of your choir, all working together, because it won’t work otherwise.

The learning process never ends. You learn to read music without knowing it. You learn foreign tongues without realising it. Your brain is sharper, your memory improves because you want to shine among your peers.

Competition and comparison are the life blood of any art. Among choirs it is of the essence because we all need to know where we are in the hierarchy. It means triumph and disaster, winning and losing, but when you are up among the best and your audience tells you so it is a magic moment.

We help others. Every year the choir raises thousands of pounds for charities nation wide. Each December our Charity Concert raises over £3000.00 for local organisations.

What are we?
A male voice choir from Wales with all the emotion that that phrase evokes. Although the majority of the men are not Welsh speaking, their hearts and minds are dedicated to promoting Welsh culture, particularly the music tradition.

Who are we?
Ordinary men, from all age groups, from all walks of life, from anywhere and everywhere. Some of the choristers live on the doorstep, some just around the corner and quite a few travel some distance to be at rehearsal. It’s all about wanting to be there, taking the buzz.

What do we do?
Rehearse twice a week, perform at least one concert per month, enter competitions, travel all over the country, entertain other choirs, sing with great artistes, travel abroad and have tremendous fun while doing it.

Why Flint?
You may think that to belong to a good choir you would have to have singing experience, a good voice and some musical knowledge. This may be true of many choirs, but at Flint we do not pick and choose our choristers to that extent. If you want to sing and you can prove your commitment, we would love to let you have a go. After all that is how we all started.

I can’t read music.
You are not on your own, but our methods of learning take this into account. After 30 years experience with every level of knowledge you will not fail to give voice. Ask any of the choristers.

What about learning Welsh?
As mentioned above we are not a Welsh speaking choir and our rehearsals are conducted in English. Yes, we do have a lot of Welsh songs, but by repetition and help from listening around, you will be surprised how quickly it comes. Welsh is a very phonetic language, what you see is what you say. Just follow a few simple rules and it is easier than English and much more musical.

What is involved?
A simple test to ascertain the voice range, then regular attendance at rehearsal to learn the current repertoire. You pay an annual subscription and a small contribution to uniform costs once the probation period is successfully covered.

It’s a family affair.
We try our best to include family and friends in all our trips both home and abroad. There is a great social side to all our activities.
